1 Mins read

John McGuinness‘s Classic TT nightmare continued in qualifying for the 500cc race, with the Morecambe Missile only making it as far as Quarterbridge on the opening lap.

Michael Dunlop also fell foul on the first lap, with James Hillier and Mark Parrett both pulling in at Crosby Village.

Steve Mercer set the fastest time of the evening, posting a 117.556 on his second lap of practice. Mercer was followed on the time sheets by Ryan Kneen‘s DMR Yamaha, who set a 115.212, and Mark Miller with a time of 113.151 on the sister Yamaha of Mercer.

Chris Palmer topped the times in Formula 2 with a 110.818, while Dean Harrison continued his fine form in the Formula Classic class, posting a time of 106.758. Gavin Lupton was the only other rider in the Formula Classic class to break the 100mph barrier, setting a time of 100.906.

The 500cc class was topped by Olie Linsdell, setting another 110+mph time, ahead of Bruce Anstey and Chris Palmer. The second session was red flagged on the opening lap following multiple crashes. No riders were reported to be seriously injured.
