Ingram Leaves It Late To Snatch Rockingham Pole

1 Mins read

Tom Ingram led home a JHR Developments one-two during an entertaining Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup qualifying session at Rockingham.

Over half a dozen drivers traded the top spot between them during the frantic twenty minute session, but it was championship leader Ingram who emerged on top with a best time of 1m 22.785s to take his fourth pole position from the last five qualifying sessions.

Rob Boston will join his team-mate on the front row of the grid for the opening race, his best time of 1m 23.159s putting him 0.374s off Ingram’s best.

Andrew Watson followed up his run to quickest in pre-event testing yesterday with third on the grid for the opening race, while Pepe Massot took fourth after a strong session with new team JHR Developments.

Stunning the series regulars meanwhile to go fifth fastest was series debutant Tom Oliphant, the Formula Renault regular setting a best time of 1m 23.715s with Century Motorsport.

Carl Boardley completes the top six for race one ahead of Jamie Orton, with double race winner last time out Matt Nicoll-Jones taking eighth ahead of TCR pairing Mark Davies and Carl Breeze.

Reece Somerfield and Fergus Walkinshaw will line-up on row six, the latter having briefly topped the timesheets in the middle of the session, while newly-crowned G50 champion Sean Huyton finished up thirteenth overall in his debut in a G55 ahead of Marcus Hoggarth and Dan Norris-Jones.
