Circuit Park Zandvoort

This live blog will be updated during the first 55 minute practice session for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship from the Dutch circuit of Zandvoort.

14:23We’ll have the session report up as soon as possible, then we’ll be live for the second session in about 90 minutes.

14:22End of the session and it the Ashburn and Tandy Trackspeed Porsche that sets the fastest time after an early lap from the Porsche works man.

14:16And now to 5th, moving to 0.841 down on Tandy’s pace setter which still holds sway at the top

14:156 minutes to go and the Fortec Merc that started with problems has moved up to 6th

14:13And more spinning GT4s – the Century car this time spins on the exit of Hugenholtz

14:12A further FF Corse improvement moves thme up to 8th fastest now

14:09Another spin for a GT4 car as the Redgate/Lifetime car rotates on the exit of the S-Bocht. No damage done though as it comes past the pits

14:05The FF Corse Ferrari of Gary Eastwood and Rob Barff moves into the top ten in 9th with a 1:44.163 lap

14:02They’ve also been bumped from the GT4 lead of the session by the Century Motorsport car with a lap of 1:54.059

14:01The Optimum of Ryan Ratcliffe car makes it back to the pits – the front right corner baring the scars of contact with the tyre wall

13:59The Optimum Motorsport Ginetta Gt4 survives a little bump with the wall at Huhenholtz. Now touring back to the pits by the looks of it

13:55A few pitstop, so it could be the faster guys back in some of the top cars again. Still eveyone chasing the #31 Porsche

13:47Little improvement in the top ten since the red flag, Phil Keen and Jon Minshaw’s Trackspeed Porsche up to 8th

13:43Sounds like a lot of damage on the #8 after a high speed off around the back of the circuit

13:42The Beechdean Aston is 2nd, WRT Audi 3rd, #888 BMW 4th and the #13 AF Corse Ferrari 5th

13:41Green flag – the clock didn’t stop, so there are 39 minutes left in the session. It’s still Nick Tandy’s very early lap that sets the pace

13:39The #8 888Optimum BMW Z4 GT3 has stopped at pit in. It is towed back to the pits with left-front damage.

13:36Jonny Adam puts the points leading Beechdean car into second, and we now have a red flag

13:35There was contact between the Merc and the Kinfaun-PGF Aston in the pits before the start of the session. The Aston has front end damage and has not done a lap yet.

13:33And it goes into tenth fastest, three seconds of Nick Tandy’s time

13:32The Merc has gone back out, seemingly without further issue after having the flat tyre replaced.

13:31Early GT4 leaders are also the points leaders – Optimum Motorsport

13:30First flying laps are in, it’s the #31 Trackspeed Porsche of Nick Tandy and David Ashburn at the top with a 1:41.899

13:29The Fortec Mercedes has come back to the pits with a shredded right-rear tyre after just an out lap

13:25The British GT field is unleashed upon the Zandvoort circuit.

13:24The tyres are coming out of the warmers and going on to cars – the air guns announcing the nearing of the session’s start

13:21Five minutes to the green flag. Expect the BMWs and Aston Martins to be quick around the flowing back of the circuit.

13:17Yep, we’re in the sand dunes of Zandvoort, counting down to the first practice session for the British GT Championship

13:13Oh we do like to be beside the seaside, oh we do like to be beside the sea!
