Supercup Run For WTCC Star MacDowall

1 Mins read

FIA World Touring Car Championship front-runner Alex MacDowall will make a guest appearance in the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup this weekend with Total Control Racing.

The 22 year old currently competes in the WTCC for Bamboo Engineering in a Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T, having joined the series in 2012 following a two year spell in the British Touring Car Championship with Silverline Chevrolet.

The former Renault UK Clio Cup racer joins the Ginetta series in a G55 on a one-weekend deal, fresh from picking up a WTCC career-best second place finish at Suzuka last weekend. The move reunites MacDowall with TCR, the Wednesbury-based outfit having run him in the Clio’s from 2007 to 2009.

The two races at Silverstone this weekend won’t be MacDowall’s first in a Ginetta however, he and father Ray having entered the 2010 Britcar ‘Into The Night’ at Brands Hatch in a Ginetta G50.
