First Trio Sign Up For Winter BRDC F4 Action

1 Mins read

Pietro Fittipaldi, Fredrik Johansen and Will Palmer have become the first three drivers to sign up for the 2013 BRDC Formula 4 Winter Championship

Fittipaldi is the only one of the three drivers with experience racing in F4, having completed the inaugural campaign with MGR Motorsport. The Brazilian took a maiden win at Brands Hatch in May en-route to fifteenth in the standings, and is targeting more success on his return with MGR.

“I am sure the F4 winter series will be very competitive and a good learning experience for me, especially in the rainy and cold winter conditions which we are bound to see! I’m looking forward to seeing a strong grid!” said Fittipaldi.

Norwegian karting graduate Johansen will make his car-racing debut meanwhile with Chris Dittmann Racing. The former Norway Junior Karting Festival winner enjoyed some testing runs with the team at the start of the season.

“I am really excited to be racing in the F4 Winter Championship,”
he enthused. “I have tested with the car and the team earlier this year and found it to be an excellent car to work with and to learn in. I am now ready to start racing and I can’t wait to get out on track.”

Palmer meanwhile will make his single-seater race debut following two full seasons in the Ginetta Junior Championship. The 16 year old finished third overall this season with ten podium finishes, and will join F4 with the team that ran him in the Ginetta’s, HHC Motorsport.

“I’ve been following BRDC F4 very closely this season and it is clearly an excellent championship,” Palmer commented. “HHC Motorsport were the obvious choice for me having been with them in Ginetta Juniors. For the Winter Series I hope I can be in the top half of the field and score consistent results across the races.”

The 2013 BRDC Formula 4 Winter Series starts with four races at Snetterton 300 on the weekend of 9/10 November, with four more races two weeks later at Brands Hatch Indy on 23/24 November.
