Orton And Oliphant Commit To Century For 2014

1 Mins read

Century Motorsport have become the first Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup outfit to confirm their driver line-up for next season, with recent signings Tom Oliphant and Jamie Orton committing to a full campaign with the front-running outfit.

Former single-seater racer Oliphant made his Ginetta debut with the team at Rockingham, before returning last time out at Silverstone. The 23 year old has proved highly competitive with a best finish of seventh so far.

Orton meanwhile joined the team from Snetterton in August and has been a regular front-runner in qualifying, though like Oliphant, race results hasn’t quite come his way. A seasons best of fourth at Silverstone though indicated his potential.

“I’m thrilled that before we’ve even finished 2013, we’ve got our first two drivers signed for 2014 already,” said team principal Nathan Freke. “As a team this gives us a huge confidence boost and having had the chance to run Tom twice already this year, provides us with a good indication where his strengths and weaknesses are as we plan our winter testing programme.

“Jamie’s qualifying pace has been really good and he’s improving all the time. He hasn’t been rewarded with the results he deserves in the races, but I think we can be on the podium at Brands Hatch this weekend. We’re all really looking forward to what the future has in store!”

The final rounds of the 2013 Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup take place this weekend at Brands Hatch.
