KX Akademy mentor Jason Plato has expressed his pride after Tom Ingram became the scheme’s first champion earlier this month when he wrapped up the 2013 Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup champion.
Ingram has been supported by the talent development programme since its introduction during the 2012 season, with his Supercup success making him KX’s first champion.
The 20 year old was utterly dominant in the sportscar series, taking a record-matching eleven race wins during a stunning run of 22 consecutive podium finishes.
Ingram’s superb performances through the campaign ensured he picked up the KX Akademy ‘Yellow Jersey’ accolade, for the member of the scheme deemed to have shone the most at each race weekend, on four occasions.
This was more than any other driver, securing him an end-of-season financial reward, a prize Plato feels is extremely well-deserved.
“It was of no surprise to me that Tom was the winner of the Yellow Jersey competition,” commented the two-time BTCC champion. “He has performed consistently throughout the year and is a very worthy Ginetta GT Supercup Champion. KX Akademy has been proud to support Tom for the past two years and we are delighted that he is our first champion – on and off the track, his performance has been exemplary.”
