The Aston Martin GT4 Challenge of Great Britain will join the British GT package for four of the six events on the series’ provisional 2014 calendar.

“The British GT Championship is the highest level of GT racing in the UK and one of the top national championships in the world, so having the GT4 Challenge of Great Britain as a support race shows the level of professionalism of our one-make series,” said John Gaw, the team principal of Aston Martin Racing, who himself raced in the British GT Championship last season.

“Aston Martin Racing started with the GT4 and it continues to be at the heart of everything we do. Its excellent reliability, driveability and competitive running costs make it ideal for gentlemen drivers looking to start a racing career or just to have some fun. The recent improvements to the aero have put it right at the front of the GT4 pack and this was demonstrated at the last round of the British GT Championship when Richie Stanaway and Harry Whale finished second in their first race together.”

The Vantage GT4 has become a regular site in the lower class of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, taking the class win in the two hour race at Rockingham early in the season.

The GT4 Challenge will be part of the support package for the British GT races at Oulton Park, Rockingham, Silverstone and the British GT finale at Donington Park. The single make championship also includes the Aston Martin Festival weekend on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, with the fnal event at Zandvoort in Holland scheduled for October 18-19.

The position alongside the British GT paddock should install the series as one of the best routes into the championship, recognised as one of the top GT racing series in the world. Also new for 2014 in the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge will be a partnership with Michelin, who will act as sole tyre supplier to the series, as well as provide technical support throughout the season.

The partnership is an extension of Michelin’s working with Aston Martin Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
