Martin Depper looks set to make a return to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship in 2014, taking the wheel of the second Pirtek Racing Honda alongside newly-crowned champion, Andrew Jordan.
Depper formerly raced a BMW 320si E90 for Forster Motorsport back in 2010 having previously won the Mini Challenge championship, and tested Jordan’s BTCC Honda Civic at Donington Park on Thursday afternoon (28 November) just a day after Jordan sparked the news on Twitter that he would have a new team-mate for 2014 – hinting that driver would be testing on this day.
The returning Depper has enjoyed a successful season racing in the British GT-supporting APR Volkswagen Racing Cup, collecting two victories driving a KPM-run Volkswagen Scirocco-R on his way to finishing third in the final standings.
With Jordan on hand to aid during his maiden run in the NGTC Honda, Depper it appears take the driving duties of the second Civic run by double Independent BTCC champions Pirtek Racing, replacing Jeff Smith who suffered a truncated 2013 season that was cut short by financial issues.
Jordan and Depper were joined at Donington by United Autosports, the British GT squad having tried out former Team HARD driver James Cole this week in an ex-Dynojet Toyota Avensis as they prepare for a possible 2014 BTCC entry.
