Recently announced Red Bull Junior driver Alex Lynn has been confirmed for the 2014 GP3 series with Carlin.
The Macau Grand Prix winner will follow in the footsteps of Antonio Felix Da Costa and Daniil Kvyat by moving up into the lower Formula One support series for Trevor Carlin’s self named team.
Speaking about his season ahead, Lynn said: “I am extremely proud to be joining the Red Bull Junior Team and to be also joining Carlin for the GP3 Series, it’s a big opportunity that I’m ready to make the most of. I have spent years going wheel to wheel with the Red Bull Carlin cars, so now it will be cool to be racing one myself.”
The 20-year-old has moved up to GP3 following on from a 2013 F3 European Championship campaign which saw him claim three wins and 14 podiums as well as a second place at the Masters of Zandvoort.
Indeed as only one of three Red Bull Junior drivers in 2014, he will follow in the footsteps of Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne by competing for Carlin in various low level series.
Trevor Carlin added: “We have come close to working with Alex before and we have always admired the way he handles himself both on and off the track. We are very proud that the Red Bull Junior Team have entrusted us with Alex’s first season in the programme and we are already laying preparations for a very strong push for the season ahead. Alex is a very quick driver with exactly the right attitude to be a challenger for the GP3 title from the very start.”
