ProSpeed Competition will join the World Endurance Championship for the 2014 season, following an entry list announcement from the ACO.
The team will compete in the GTE-Pro category, fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR piloted by Emmanuel Collard, the loyal Francois Perrodo and 19-year-old Matthieu Vaxiviere.
“2014 will be my third full season in motorsport, following a year in VdeV and a year in European Le Mans Series,” explained Perrodo. “It wasn’t an easy decision to compete in the WEC, it’s of a high level, the races are far away and practically all the circuits are new for me. I’m fully aware of the extent of the task in hand but the motivation is enormous. For ProSpeed and my teammates this will be a year to discover the championship, but I put my full trust in the professionalism of one and all to produce their utmost. To compete in the WEC is an enormous privilege for a gentleman driver, to be able to do it with friends is quite unique. I can’t wait to be in Silverstone!”
“This commitment is part and parcel of a well thought out programme, which we developed over several seasons,” added Collard. “For example last year we had already competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and clinched a podium place in Bahrain, the last meeting of the 2013 WEC. The World Endurance Championship is the reference in competition.”
The trio will compete in all eight of the WEC races, which incorporates the team’s fifth assault on the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2011, ProSpeed won the Prix Escra award for the team having provided the best technical assistance.
“This commitment is part and parcel of a well thought out programme, which we developed over several seasons,” said Team Principle, Rudi Penders. “For example last year we had already competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and clinched a podium place in Bahrain, the last meeting of the 2013 WEC. The World Endurance Championship is the reference in competition.”
