Verizon takes Penske to new levels

1 Mins read

Team Penske’s major sponsor Verizon has announced a new deal with the team that takes their long standing IndyCar partnership to dizzying new heights.

The biggest evolution in the deal for the 2014 season is the utilisation of Verizon’s vast 4G LTE and 3G networks at tracks to allow engineers and management alike the ease of always being connected.

The deal also sees the continued backing of the #12 car which this year will be driven by Will Power. This is on top of sponsoring the #2 car of Juan Pablo Montoya who makes his long awaited return to the IndyCar series following time in both Formula One and the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

“Verizon has been a terrific partner for Team Penske and we are excited to continue to grow our relationship with them in 2014 and beyond,” said Roger Penske. “Verizon’s technology and marketing activation has meant so much to Team Penske and the sport of INDYCAR racing and we look forward to building on this special partnership in the future.”

That market activation has included the launch of IndyCar 14 a mobile app which allows users to view live track maps, text commentary and live on board cameras streamed directly to the user’s phone or tablet.

This will be the fifth year of Verizon backing Roger Penske’s team with it’s backing of the #12 seeing 17 victories, 25 pole positions and three Road Course Championships.

IndyCar’s 2014 season begins on March 30th on the streets of St Petersburg.
