Trident Racing have signed Brazilian Victor Carbone and South African Roman de Beer as their first two drivers for the 2014 GP3 Series season.
De Beer tested for Trident at the end of season test in Abu Dhabi having sat out 2013 as he struggled for funds to continue his career. However he impressed the team in testing, and will race for the team in 2014.
“We are all working hard towards the 2014 season hoping for the best results,” said de Beer on the official Trident website. “With a competitive series like GP3, expectations are always difficult to achieve but with determination and team work, everything is possible.
“It’s one of the best series and I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to participate in such a prestigious event. I am very excited and ready to do my utmost best! I would like to thank all the people who are making it possible to help me one step closer to my dream.”
Sao Paulo born Carbone has run part time in the Indy Lights series in America over the past few years, but sees a return to full time racing in 2014 with Trident, and it will be his first year racing in Europe.
“I am extremely happy and exited to have the chance to join Trident and race in Europe this year in such a competitive Series as GP3,” said Carbone. “It will be a big challenge coming from the USA but I am confident that together with my Team we will work very hard to reach great results.”
The name of the third driver in the team will be announced at a later date.
