Fletcher and Hill Complete Brands Hatch Carrera Cup Entry

1 Mins read

Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher and Ginetta ace Jake Hill have become the final two entries for the opening round of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend at Brands Hatch.

Fletcher will compete in the Pro-Am2 category at as many rounds as his busy schedule allows; he is relatively inexperienced, having only started racing in 2012. However, he does approach the championship with previous Porsche racing knowledge, having finished a creditable third in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge in 2013.

That campaign included a victory at what would turn out to be the series final ever round, racing with the Carrera Cup GB at the Silverstone BTCC event.

His program will be run by Redline Racing, who are also running 2014 title favourite Michael Meadows. Team boss Simon Leonard is excited about the Oldham-based driver’s prospects for 2014. “We ran him in the GT3 Cup Challenge last year and it’s really good to continue that relationship into the Carrera Cup” he commented.

Jake Hill will be a name familiar to fans of the TOCA package, having finished runner-up to Tom Ingram in the 2010 Ginetta Junior Championship. For the past two seasons he has only raced sporadically and made his BTCC bow at Croft last year in a Motorbase Performance run, S2000 Ford Focus. Later in the season Hill went on to star behind the wheel of a Rob Austin RacingNGTC Audi A4, at the dramatic BTCC season finale on the demanding Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

The opening championship round on Brands Hatch’s tight and twisty Indy layout marks Hill’s Porsche debut as the championship welcomes in the new Type 991 racer. The Goudhurst based youngster will compete for In2Racing and is glad to be involved in round one of the Carrera Cup GB. “I have had to miss the season opener for the past couple of seasons, so to be out and part of the buzz of the first race meeting, especially with the new model 911 GT3 Cup, is incredibly exciting” he commented.

With a talent filled 13 car grid now confirmed for Brands Hatch, it is very nearly time to go racing.
