Leonard Returns For Pro-Am1 Assault In Carrera Cup GB

1 Mins read

Karl Leonard is preparing for a full time return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2014, becoming the first confirmed entrant for Stuart Parker’s eponymous Team Parker Racing squad.

The Irish racer first contested the series in the 2008 season and has made occasional appearances in the championship ever since. His full campaign in 2014 marks a concerted effort to take the Pro-Am1 title, which has in the past been won by United Autosports’ new BTCC star and former British GT champion Glynn Geddie and Carrera Cup GB 2013 runner up Jonas Gelzinis.

The race at Le Mans is a big thing for me and I hope to be chasing for the overall podium” commented Leonard who has already experienced the stunning new Type-991 GT3 Cup in race conditions during the Porsche Supercup round which supported last year’s British Grand Prix.

Parker himself is excited to have Leonard returning to his team; the squad ran 2012- 2013 Porsche GB scholar Daniel Lloyd to 4th in last year’s Carrera Cup GB. “We’ve got high hopes for him (Leonard) and he should be right at the fore front of Pro- Am 1”

Leonard will hit the track along with his team and rivals next Tuesday (The 18th of March) for the traditional pre-season Media Day at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire; where there is sure to be much more driver and team related news than there has thus far been during this rather quiet off-season.
