Winning Supercup Start For United Autosports

1 Mins read

United Autosports enjoyed a race-winning debut in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup, after category debutant Luke Davenport tasted victory in the final race at Brands Hatch.

After showing promise during pre-season testing, Davenport was largely frustrated with a tenth place finish in the opening encounter. A hard-fought top five finish in race two put him on the front row for the final race though, and a great performance during a chaotic race saw him emerge with the race win.

His team-mate, 2012 Supercup champion Carl Breeze had a torrid weekend though. An encouraging fourth in the opening race was the highlight, with the next two races both ending on the opening lap for him, due to contact and a mechanical failure respectively.

“Being honest comparing their respective experience, if we [United Autosports] were going to win a race early on then I thought it would be Carl, so I’m absolutely delighted for Luke. He gained in confidence throughout the weekend. He didn’t inherit the win, he earned it,” said team owner Richard Dean.

“It was a disappointing Sunday for Carl after finishing fourth. He was an innocent victim of the race two accident going for second place and it looks like we carried some of the car damage over into the third race. He’s been unlucky today but it’s a long season.”
