Burns Ready To Push Forward After Oulton Top Five

1 Mins read

Will Burns secured his best result of the 2014 Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup season to date with a fifth place finish at Oulton Park, and believes there’s more to come as he continues adapating to his Ginetta G55 GT4.

Following a pair of top six finishes last time out at Thruxton, the Weston-Super-Mare racer was confident of challenging at the front once again around the unique, undulating Oulton circuit.

His weekend started well in qualifying, the 22 year old posting the seventh fastest time in his Academy Motorsport machine, a position he maintained throughout the opening race.

With a few changes to his set-up for race two, Burns started well and then benefitted from a spate of drive-through penalties for rivals to move up to fifth. With a comfortable gap to his nearest challenger, Burns brought the car home for his first top five finish in the Supercup.

“It was a very productive weekend for the team. We had to build on our performance at Thruxton and in race two we particularly did that,” said Burns.

“Sean and I opted for completely different strategies, which turned out more beneficial for him in the race. But now that we’ve found that, we can now dial that into my car ahead of the upcoming rounds and gain positive results.”
