Double Pole for Max Verstappen as Strong Run Goes On

2 Mins read

The amazing run of Dutchman Max Verstappen appears to be continuing after he took pole position for both race two and race three of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship at the Norisring. The sixteen-year-old added the two poles to his earlier race one victory.

For the second of this weekends races, Prema Powerteam’s current championship leader Esteban Ocon will line-up on the front row alongside Van Amersfoort Racing’s Verstappen. The second row will be comprised of Tom Blomqvist, earlier deposed by Verstappen from second place in the championship, and Mücke MotorsportsFelix Rosenqvist, the pole sitter for race one.

The star of qualifying has to be the youngest driver in the field – Santino Ferrucci. The EuroInternational driver in only his second event after making his debut at Spa-Francorchamps last weekend, took an amazing fifth place on the grid for race two, ahead of reigning British Formula 3 Champion Jordan King of Carlin.

Lucas Auer will start seventh for Mücke Motorsport and will want to make his way back up to the podium where he finished in race one. He will be joined on row four by Antonio Giovinazzi, and the Jagonya Ayam with Carlin driver will be hoping to reach the chequered flag this time around as his first race was full of drama and ended in retirement. The fifth row will see Jake Dennis of Carlin start alongside Nicholas Latifi of Prema Powerteam.

For race three, where the drivers second fastest time during the session dictates the grid, it was Verstappen again that ended up in P1. He will be joined on the front row this time by Jagonya Ayam with Carlin driver Blomqvist, with Rosenqvist and Ocon on row two.

King and Ferrucci swap places for race three, with the Briton beating the American by 0.033s for fifth. Giovinazzi and Dennis will line up seventh and eighth, with Antonio Fuoco of Prema Powerteam and Auer completing the top ten.
