Isachsen on Piquet Jr. : “I’m p*ssed off to be honest”

1 Mins read

Sverre Isachsen saw his hopes of gaining a medal at X Games Austin come to an abrupt end following an incident with Nelson Piquet Jr. in the quarter final races.

Having cleared the two heat stages with a second place and a win Isachsen was looking to good to progress through the finals in his Subaru WRX STi.

Unfortunately for the ‘Viking Warrior’ his race would end when Piquet Jr. made an opimistic move up the inside of Isachsen’s car, pitching the Subaru around and into the concrete barriers.

He and Piquet Jr. have previously clashed on track and speaking after the race an angry Isachsen commented “Nelson Piquet Jr. can go back to Formula 1, because he can’t drive rallycross. I’m pissed off to be honest, and I wonder what his spotter Andreas Bakkerud thinks of this driving. I’m not impressed.”

While obviously annoyed at how his weekend ended Isachsen was already looking towards the next round, buoyed by the performance of team-mate Bucky Lasek who took a silver medal home in the finals after coming home second to Scott Speed.

“It’s a shame, and I’m sorry for my team and all my fans. But I will come back stronger.” he added.

The Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship heads to Washington DC in two weekends time and we’re sure there will be fireworks if Piquet Jr. and Isachsen are on track together!
