Jos Verstappen to Demo FA1 at Zolder Event in July

1 Mins read

Jos ‘the boss’ Verstappen will demonstrate the Formula Acceleration 1 FA1 car when the ACCELERATION event reaches Zolder in July. Former Formula 1 driver Verstappen, who made his F1 debut in 1994 and took a podium finish for Benetton at another Belgian track of Spa-Francorchamps, will drive the car that took propelled him to victory in the 2006 A1GP of South Africa.

Formula Acceleration 1 will race at the Belgian track between the 18th and 20th of July, amid a weekend of racing, music from the 80s and 90s and a dance festival. On both the Saturday and Sunday of the event, Verstappen will take to the track for a demonstration with the FA1, which is the same car that the A1GP series used when he won in South Africa in 2006.

Verstappen, who is currently focusing on coaching his sixteen-year-old son Max in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship, is looking forward to getting back into the car.

“It is fantastic that I can entertain the Belgian and Dutch spectators again with a brute formula car, especially since it is 20 years ago that I got to the podium of the Belgian Grand Prix,” said Verstappen. “Of course I will make some donuts and practice starts as well.

“I enjoyed my A1GP time a lot and I am therefore pleased about the fact that ACCELERATION brought new life into this massive formula car. On top of that, the idea of combining motorsports with an evening music programme is a great idea, I’m sure about that.”

The CEO of ACCELERATION Loek Bodelier is delighted to have Jos Verstappen participating in the proceedings at Zolder.

“Jos Verstappen is a famous and talented race driver,” said Bodelier. “The fact that he wants to get back into his old race car at our event is something we are proud of at ACCELERATION. And we expect the crowd to cheer him as many Dutch fans will attend the event.”
