Kellett Wins Ahead Of Norris And Mitchell

1 Mins read

James Kellet took a hard fought win ahead of team-mate Lando Norris in the first Ginetta Junior Championship race at Croft.

Kellett briefly held the lead early on during a hectic lap one but Norris made a bold move on his HHC Motorsport team-mate going into the final hairpin to reclaim the lead.

The lead changed hands again on lap four as Norris fell to third behind championship leader Jack Mitchell and Kellett who re-took the lead.

At the end of lap five Mitchell took a dive up the inside of Kellett going into the hairpin and made contact. This brought Norris back into the picture as the leaders ran three abreast down the pit straight.

However it was Kellett who held on to the lead going into turn one followed closely by Norris and Mitchell in third.

Jamie Chadwick drove a fairly routine race to finish fourth. She ran in fourth for the entire race but couldn’t keep up with the pace of the leading cars as she lost time on almost every lap.

Chadwick was followed by Ryan Hadfield in fifth and Alex Sedgwick in sixth, more than five seconds off the leaders.

Dan Zelos had an early spin on lap one coming out of the chicane. This left him down in 18th place. The JHR Developments driver was able to claw some places back though as he finished 13th.

TCR driver Jamie Caroline also had a miserable first race. His car got stuck on the grid and he was forced to retire on lap one.
