Round 13 of the 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship coming up. Colin Turkington stormed to pole yesterday afternoon and heads the title race.
He also has four former champions directly behind him on the grid; Plato, Shedden, Neal and Jordan
Grid clearing, formation lap about to get underway.
A massive 30 Car entry, missing Chris Stockton with engine woes this weekend.
Fabrizio Giovanardi is in 18th position,expect him to make some progress although a top ten may be difficult.
Dark clouds loom over the circuit. Tension mounting now. A lot to shake out in this race.
Lights out. Or rather not
May have been Ollie Jackson not in position.
Delayed start, another formation lap likely.
Now believe it may have been an issue with the lights not wanting to go out.
Second formation lap is go.
New Aero Package on Dave Newsham’s Ford Focus. 2014 specification after his race two Oulton shunt.
Cars back to the grid. Attempt number two.
Dramtic start. Plato loses out, Collard through the gravel. Neal sideways.
Foster and Goff off into the second chicane.
Shedden all over Turkington
Plato third, Collard fourth
Half way through lap two and things seem to be calming down.
Collard all over Plato as we head onto lap three
Tordoff sixth, followed by Neal
Morgan out after first lap incident with Foster
Turkington pulling out the gap from Shedden as we get through to lap four
Neal has passed Tordoff into the final hairpin.
Collard hounding Plato with Jordan in tow
This is a tremendous battle for third
Collard looks so much faster than Plato right now. A matter of time.
Turkington puts five laps in the book. Shedden a comfortable second.
Glynn Geddie in the pits with damage.
Tordoff backing up Menu, Mat Jackson and Hunter Abbott.
Collard locks up but Jordan cannot benifit.
Lap 7 done, already half way through this race.
Collard back with Plato now. Jordan and Neal very close.
Lower down, cars looking very battered. Jack Clarke, Warren Scott and James Cole all attacking each other.
Menu looking racy behind Tordoff onto lap ten.
Plato still defending really well, three laps remaining.
Collard attacks into turn one around the outside but cannot make it work.
Jordan attacks around the outside of Collard into Tower. Cannot make it work.
This may end in tears.
Onto the last lap, battle for third so close.
Turkington has this in the bag, Shedden comfortable in second.
Turkington wins Round 13 of the BTCC 2014
Shedden is second and a fantastic drive nets Plato third. Collard fourth, Jordan fifth and Neal sixth.
