Junior Leader Mitchell Hoping For Croft Double

1 Mins read

Airwaves Racing star driver Jack Mitchell is hoping that his trip up North to Croft Circuit can add to his already impressive win tally in this year’s Ginetta Junior championship.

With six wins from eight races, Mitchell is not resting on his laurels after a Thruxton round that saw him lose his 100% win record.

Thruxton was a bit of a wake-up call for us to be honest. Having started every race on pole and with a 100% winning record up until that point – to then come away with just a sixth place finish from the weekend when I knew we had the pace in the car was devastating.”

“My confidence took a bit of knock after that, so we decided to get some testing in at Oulton Park and Croft ahead of us going racing there,” added Mitchell.  “Testing went really well, and the Airwaves Ginetta was the fastest out on the track so I went to Oulton Park with high hopes.”

At the Cheshire circuit he did managed to continue his strong showing, but the Junior category is known for its competitive nature and Mitchell had to work for his win as James Kellet made the most of the drafting technique to keep in touch to the Airwaves driver.

Ran by JHR, his G40 has been in top form around Croft in recent weeks as Mitchell got some testing in around the North Yorkshire circuit: “I tested at Croft and loved the circuit. Managing to get under the current lap record during testing was the icing on the cake and race day cannot come quick enough for me – bring it on.”
