MotoGP 2014: Catalunya Grand Prix – Power Five

4 Mins read

Although we’re seeing the same winner, MotoGP is anything but predictable with another thrilling race which went all the way to the wire in Catalunya. Marc Marquez was made to fight tooth and nail for his seventh consecutive victory and he wasn’t the only rider to shine in Spain. The TCF Power Five looks at the most impressive performances of all.

5. Stefan Bradl (MotoGP)

Few riders had a tougher time of it in Mugello than Stefan Bradl with two horrendous accidents in the space of four hours but the German was right back on form in Barcelona. The LCR Honda rider featured near the top of the timesheets throughout free practice and although the normal order returned in time for qualifying, Stefan still secured a highly commendable fourth on the grid.

Honda and Yamaha’s factory duos were always going to have a say in the outcome of the race victory but Bradl did superbly to keep the leading quartet in sight, matching them for pace in the early stages. As the laps ticked by and the frontrunners kept up the intensity, Bradl eventually faded to a rather lonely fifth but his position as the top satellite rider was never in any danger and it’s performances like this that will safeguard his long term future at motorcycle racing’s top table.
