3. Marc Marquez (MotoGP)
The unbeaten streak goes on. Just when you think Marc Marquez is finally going to be beaten, the Spanish sensation finds a way to win yet again. The reigning champion didn’t even need to start from pole position although he might have done had he not crashed on his final lap of Q2, losing the front end of his Honda RC213V at turn one.
Starts haven’t been a strength of Marc’s in recent races either and true to form, he found himself at the tail of a four-man leading group but Marquez hasn’t got where he has by panicking under pressure. By lap six, he had dispensed with Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo and after several attempts to overtake Valentino Rossi, including a trip through the turn one escape road, Marc hit the front six laps from the finish.
The race wasn’t over yet though as polesitter Pedrosa threw one last attack at his teammate on the last lap but Marc was wise to his attack at turn one and coolly regained the lead on the exit. A second attempt from Dani at turn four brought the same result and when Pedrosa slid wide at turn eleven while trying to avoid a clash with his teammate, victory number seven was secured.
