Salvatore de Plano to make Auto GP Debut at Imola

1 Mins read

39-year-old Salvatore de Plano will make his debut in the Auto GP World Series in the forthcoming event at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola on weekend of the 28th and 29th of June.

The Italian will race a third Euronova Racing entry alongside Japanese duo Kimiya Sato and Shinya Michimi. De Plano will race for Vincenzo Sospiri’s outfit after conducting some positive tests behind the wheel of an Auto GP car in a private session.

Imola sees the return of championship leader Sato after being absent from the previous round at Monza that saw his championship lead cut to just nine points by German Markus Pommer, who drives for Super Nova International. Pommer took the race one victory in Monza, and followed that up by claiming a podium in race two.

Michimi made his series debut last time out in Monza, and impressed enough to warrant being given another shot at Imola. His team-mate from Monza Yoshitaka Kuroda sits this event out.
