What an up and down year it’s been already and we’re only just over the half way mark! Since scoring two wins on the opening weekend of the championship, the results have tailed off a little which has been more than frustrating for me and my sponsors.

Nevertheless, since the last UK Clio Cup weekend at Croft I managed to fit in a race in the Eurocup Clio at the famous Nurburgring circuit! It’s an awesome venue for those that haven’t been and the F1 circuit presents drivers with some epic corners. With the larger and arguably more experienced driver line-up, the challenge was set for some typical wheel to wheel Clio racing.

I was with a different team for the weekend after striking a last minute deal with Rangoni Corse, as my UK Clio Cup car was being stripped after the Croft race. With that in mind I was hopeful to make an impression and from the get go I was in the top three for both test sessions.

Qualifying on the front row for race one was a great feeling and if it wasn’t for the wrong tyre choice, a high points scoring result was on the cards! In the end I was forced to battle with wets on a dry track but salvaged a tenth place points scoring finish.

Sunday was a better day however as I qualified three but converted the result into a second place finish to score a one-two for the team. All in all it was a great weekend and I climbed to sixth in the overall Eurocup standings.

Turning focus back to the UK series, Snetterton is only a few days away now and I really can’t wait to get behind the wheel again at a circuit I really favour!

Riding high on confidence, I’m looking forward to turning the tables on the UK championship with everything still to play for. In the run in to the end of the season, I’m sure the spectators are going to see even closer racing with some great battles unfolding. I for one will be going all out so watch this space!!
