BTCC Outfit Team BMR Restart To Join 2015 Clio Cup

1 Mins read

Race-winning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship outfit Team BMR Restart have announced they will mount a multi-car assault on the Renault UK Clio Cup next season.

The Hertfordshire-based squad, led by Warren Scott, confirmed today at Snetterton that they are purchasing four of the fourth-generation Clio Cup racers to run alongside their existing BTCC operation next season.

The team currently run four cars in the BTCC, with Scott racing himself alongside double BTCC champion Alain Menu and two former Clio Cup stars, 2012 champion Jack Goff and 2011 vice-champion Aron Smith.

The news of their Clio Cup move comes as the team prepares for their first weekend running four VW Passat CC’s in the BTCC, having campaigned two VW’s and two Vauxhall Insignia’s so far this season.

“We’ve already got a couple of drivers interested for next year’s Clio Cup and the plan is to run four cars in the championship next season, as a feeder for our BTCC team,” said Scott. “This move will be good for us and obviously good for the Clio Cup too. It’s something I’ve been thinking about since the first couple of rounds of the season this year actually.

“The Clio Cup is the place to train the young drivers and bring them through. It’s a real breeding ground for touring cars, as we’ve seen with Jack [Goff] and Aron [Smith], and gives drivers the skills they need. Our current BTCC drivers have got a lot of experience to share, so it’ll be a brilliant opportunity for the drivers we run in Clios next year to benefit from that as part of Team BMR.”
