Robertson Confident Of Adding To Snetterton Win

1 Mins read

Charlie Robertson is feeling confident of taking at least one more race win this weekend at Snetterton after dominating proceedings today (2nd August) with a lights-to-flag Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup victory.

The win was Robertson’s fifth of the season and came thanks in part to his fifth consecutive Supercup pole position, the success extending the HHC Motorsport ace’s points lead to 44 points.

The 6.4 second victory means Robertson will start tomorrow’s opening race from pole position, and after topping qualifying by half a second, and setting a fastest lap over four tenths quicker than the next best, the 17 year old is in buoyant mood ahead of Round Sixteen.

“I’m definitely aiming for a second win, and should do the same again in the first race tomorrow,” Robertson told TCF. “I just need to get my head down and control it.”

While he’s confident of success in race two, the reverse grid format for race three means Robertson isn’t as assured about his chances of becoming the first driver this season to win all three races over a weekend.

“Race three may be different for me with the reverse grid,” he added. “It depends what number gets pulled out of the hat as to my chances of victory, as it’s quite difficult to overtake around here, but I’ll be fighting to move up as far as I can.”

Round sixteen takes place tomorrow morning at 09.50, with round seventeen to be televised live on ITV4 later in the day at 16.05.
