Watson Ready “To Come Back Fighting” After Knockhill

1 Mins read

Andrew Watson feels his Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup title challenge remains on track despite losing ground in the standings after an eventful race weekend at Knockhill

The Douglas Motorsport racer qualified a strong third in qualifying for the weekend’s trio of races, however a tough final lap in tricky conditions in race one resulted in a sixth place finish.

The Irishman fought back to take fourth in race two and was in contention for a podium finish in race three, finishing second on the road, however a five second penalty for exceeding track limits left him seventh in the classified results.

Unfortunately for Watson though, a hat-trick of podiums for points leader Charlie Robertson and fellow title rival Carl Breeze means he now lies 92 points off the championship summit, however the 19 year old has not written off his title chances.

“I’m very disappointed [with race three], but that’s racing,” said Watson. “It was a very competitive weekend. I’m still in with a chance of winning the championship and whilst not everything went our way this weekend, we will keep trying our hardest and will come back fighting.”
