British road car manufacture Caterham will enter the 2014 edition of the Brighton Speed Trials, it has been announced.
The manufacture will enter the unique sprint event with their Caterham Seven 620 R, with the recently launched car boasting a two-litre supercharged engine, which produces around 310bhp, allowing it to do 0-60 MPH in 2.79 seconds.
Driving the car at the event, which has been running since 1905, will be professional racing driver and Business Development Manager of The Caterham Experience Scott Mansell, with the 28-year-old currently holding the fastest lap records at Donington Park, Silverstone National and Brands Hatch Indy.
“The Brighton Speed Trials is a special event,” said Mansell. “Its location, literally next to the sea, is unlike any other race in the world – it is motorsport heaven for any enthusiast and a very impressive spectator sport. With the Seven 620 R, I am hoping to be right up there in our category. I will be focussed on the win, but we are there to enjoy ourselves too.”
Caterham’s aim at the event will be top the times for road-going production cars. The event itself, which takes place on September 6, has over two hundred cars entered, with the top six from each class featuring in a top six shot out to decide the victor.
