The two champions in the 2014 Michelin Clio Cup Series will receive fully-funded prize tests in fourth-generation Renault UK Clio Cup racers at Brands Hatch next month.
The successful drivers will get the chance to test the turbo-charged racers during the official pre-event testing for the Clio Cup season finale at Brands Hatch on Friday 10th October.
“We’re delighted to provide this prize for our champions, it’s incredibly important as it helps to showcase the ladder of progression which now exists with Renault in national saloon car racing,” said Renault UK Communications Director, Jeremy Townsend.
“It will be a perfect opportunity for them to display their skills in the latest, state-of-the-art racing Clio.”
One of the successful drivers is already confirmed as Anton Spires, who wrapped up the Roadcar title last weekend at Snetterton, while Mike Robinson is favourite to secure the outright honours.
Robinson, who competed in the Clio Cup from 2008 to 2010, currently holds a 52 point lead at the top of the standings with just two races remaining at Croft on September 20/21.
For former single-seater racer Spires, this will mark his first action in the BTCC support series and the 22 year old is excited for the opportunity.
“To have the opportunity to test a fourth gen Clio is amazing. I’ll take the experience as a major learning curve first of all, but hopefully use the day to prove myself – huge thanks to Renault UK for such a great prize,” commented Spires.
“It will be my first time on slick tyres in a Clio, so hopefully I can take as much experience as possible from it and I really do intend to grab the opportunity with both hands.”
