George Gamble has expressed his joy after wrapping up the 2014 Ginetta GT5 Challenge title in the final meeting of the season at Donington Park.
The Total Control Racing ace headed into the weekend with a 57 point margin at the head of the standings, with Ollie Chadwick and Dennis Strandberg aiming to chase him down.
Those two were to make contact at the last corner in race one though, spinning them out of the top two to gift Gamble victory, a result that meant he headed into the second race needing just one point to be confirmed champion.
Rather than playing it safe and counting points, Gamble went on to seal the title in style with another win after coming out on top of a fierce duel with Chadwick.
“It feels amazing,” said a rather speechless Gamble after the podium celebrations.
“It’s pretty awesome to cap it off with a win, that was the plan heading into the race and when the start went so well I had to go for it.”
Those two wins make it seven in the season for the Nottingham-based racer, who added a second place finish in the final race of the year to make it eighteen podium finishes in twenty races.
“It’s been a fantastic year, we’ve been really consistent, plugging away at it and it’s paid off,” he enthused.
“The team and all my supporters have been brilliant, it’s been an amazing year and full credit to them, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.”
