Jason Plato will start tomorrow’s opening race at Rockingham from the back of the grid as punishment for his clash with Rob Austin in the previous British Touring Car Championship meeting at Knockhill.
The Triple Eight MG driver punted the Audi A4 of rival Austin into a spin which ended the latter’s third and final race of the day in Fife prematurely, the offence Plato’s third of the season.
As a result, Plato’s punishment sees him sent to the back of the grid for Sunday’s first race at Rockingham, regardless of his qualifying result later today.
The decision was made by stewards on Saturday morning involving both drivers, and Triple Eight have appealed the decision.
