Strakka Racing to enter ALPS Jerez Round

1 Mins read

The Silverstone-based Strakka Racing team will use this weekend’s Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS event at Jerez to gather more experience for their planned full-time assault on the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series in 2015.

Jake Hughes will be the sole driver in the cockpit in Spain as the team decided a race environment would be better than just a test session as was originally planned.

“We could go and test somewhere but the opportunity to go and race had us all fired up,” said Team Principal Dan Walmsley. “We were bang on the pace in Hungary and more miles will help us to consistently unlock speed for a 2015 championship campaign.

“Racing the car is a great way to get under its skin and give our new FR2.0 team further useful experience ahead of 2015. After achieving fastest lap in the Eurocup debut, we will now rack up useful race mileage and get to see how we measure up against the equally competitive ALPS field.”

Hughes is eager to get back out on track, having taken that fastest lap in the team’s debut Eurocup weekend at the Hungaroring.

“We proved our dry pace last time out and made real progress through the weekend,” said Hughes. “It’s great to get another weekend’s racing with the team.”
