GT3 Debut For Oliphant With Team LNT VdeV Run

1 Mins read

Ginetta GT4 Supercup race-winner Tom Oliphant will join Team LNT for the final round of the VdeV Championship at Estoril next month for his first outing in GT3 machinery.

The appearance caps off an impressive maiden full GT campaign for the former single-seater racer, who has taken top five championship finishes in both the Supercup and the GT4 class of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship this season with Century Motorsport.

Oliphant will team up with Michael Simpson and Steve Tandy in the factory Ginetta G55 GT3 for the six hour race, and with the 23 year old targeting GT3 outings alongside a return to the Supercup in 2015, he’s relishing the opportunity.

“I am very excited to be joining team LNT for the last round of the V de V,” said Oliphant.

“The team have shown that the car is quick enough to win and the V de V is a perfect opportunity for me to gain valuable experience in the GT3 class.

“Partnering with Mike Simpson and Steve Tandy creates a great learning environment, something essential for me if I were to move to GT3 for 2015.”

Oliphant is the latest driver from the Ginetta ranks to get an opportunity in the VdeV series this season.

Former Supercup vice-champion Tom Sharp joined Ginetta boss Lawrence Tomlinson to take victory at Dijon, while newly-crowned 2014 champion Charlie Robertson made an appearance with the team at Motorland Aragon.

“It’s great to have Tom Oliphant on the team for Estoril, he has been one of the top drivers in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and British GT4 this season and will be an asset to the team,” added Simpson.
