Rivett Ready For Brands: “I Want My Win”

1 Mins read

Paul Rivett is ready to bring his first season with WDE Motorsport to an end in style with a long-awaited first win of the season in the Renault UK Clio Cup season finale at Brands Hatch next weekend.

It’s been a case of so close yet so far for Rivett in his hunt for a first race win since Snetterton last season, having taken second place finishes at Brands Hatch, Thruxton, Snetterton and Rockingham so far this campaign.

The three-time Clio champion told TCF he wants to end the season on a high: “We still need that elusive win, we’ve had four second places now.

“This season we’ve either had bad luck or we’ve had second places and it’d be nice to get that win at Brands Hatch.”

Having been in the position of challenging for the title at the final meeting on many occasions in his Clio career, Rivett is naturally wary of not influencing this year’s championship duel in his pursuit of victory though.

“Mike [Bushell] and Josh [Cook] will obviously be fighting hard for the championship and I don’t want to do anything to get in the way of that.”

While Rivett is looking forward to competing at Brands Hatch GP for the first time since 2012, having been forced to sit out the meeting last year through injury, it is a bittersweet moment as he sees another season come to an end.

“Hopefully we’ll have the pace to compete, it’s the local circuit for me and I love Brands GP,” he added.

“I’m looking forward to it, though I’m not looking forward to it as we have the whole winter off after that and if I had it my way we’d go racing every weekend.”
