BRDC F4 Replaces F3 On British GT Package

1 Mins read

The BRDC Formula 4 Championship will replace the British Formula 3 International Championship as ‘co-headliner’ with the Avon Tyres British GT Championship next year.

Formula 4 and British GT will combine at all six of the GT series’ UK-based rounds next year, with F4 also headlining two other race meetings on its own.

The new arrangement continues the tradition of having a single-seater championship running alongside British GT, the change coming as British Formula 3 looks increasingly unlikely to return next year.

F4 supported British GT on two occasions this season, at Snetterton and Brands Hatch.

MSV, the promoters of the BRDC F4 series, feel the new deal highlights F4 as the ‘country’s leading single-seater series’.

“This is good news for both British GT and BRDC F4,” said MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer. “Bringing the two together strengthens a package that is growing in popularity with spectators and recognises BRDC F4 as the country’s leading single-seater series.

“With this strengthened race calendar, we’re looking forward to another great year in 2015.”

Stephane Ratel, CEO of British GT promoters SRO, agrees: “SRO is very pleased to welcome what is now the premier UK single seater series, the BRDC F4 Championship, to form an exciting new headline collaboration of GTs and single seaters, making up for the sad loss of F3.”

F4 will join British GT at Oulton Park, Rockingham, Silverstone GP, Brands Hatch GP, Snetterton and Donington Park GP, with its two additional meetings seeing it make second visits to MSV-owned Snetterton and Brands Hatch, the season concluding around the Indy circuit.

4/6 April – Oulton Park*

2/3 May – Rockingham*

30/31 May – Silverstone GP*

11/12 July – Snetterton
