6) Antonio Fuoco
Antonio Fuoco began the season with a win and a podium at Silverstone, and things were looking up for Prema Powerteam’s Ferrari Driver Academy driver. However he would only visit the top step of the podium once more in 2014, and that was only when Antonio Giovinazzi was handed a late-race penalty in Austria.
It was a year of learning and adaptation for the 2013 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS champion, who finished fifth in the championship standings, with eight other visits to the podium, including the first visit to Hockenheim, the Hungaroring, Moscow Raceway, the Nurburgring and Imola.
He struggled primarily on the street circuits this season, with a pointless weekend in Pau and only lowly top ten finishes at the Norisring, but the only other time he didn’t score during a weekend was in the season closer at Hockenheim when he was involved in a couple of incidents that resulted in a broken thumb.
The Ferrari-backed driver has options for 2014, with another year with Prema Powerteam in European Formula 3 the most likely option, although he has tested in the recent GP3 Series tests in Abu Dhabi for Koiranen GP, Carlin and ART Grand Prix, with the Italian showing good pace throughout all three days.
