Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates lead the race within a race which is the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup as the first round hit the halfway mark. The Patron Endurance Cup is made up of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Fueled by Fresh From Florida, Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen and the season finale, Petit Le Mans.
At the halfway mark of the only 24 hour race in the TUDOR United Sportscar Championship the #10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP of Wayne Taylor Racing headed the Rolex timing screens but the Patron Cup standings are based on points issued at six, twelve, eighteen and 24 hours. Having headed the standings at six hours and placed third at the halfway mark, the #01 Ford EcoBoost powered Riley DP is tied with the team car, the #02 which took second in both segments.
It is a similar story in the GTLM category where the #3 and #4 Corvette Racing Corvette C7.Rs are tied for the top spot.
Prototype Challenge is led by the CORE Autosport who have dominated the class thus far and holds a two point advantage at the top of the spec prototype class. Only a flat tyre has hobbled the Oreca FLM09 on its way to a ten point haul in two six hour segments.
In GT Daytona there is a battle for the lead with the Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper GT3-R of Dominik Farnbacher, Kuno Whittmer, Cameron Lawrence and Al Carter equalising with the #63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458. Bill Sweedler, Townsend Bell, Jeff Segal and Anthony Lazzaro took the top spot at six hours but a counter attack from the SRT Vipers relegated them to second for the second segment. The cars share the lead on nine points headed into the second half of the Rolex.
