RSF Backed Smith Joins MSA Formula With Fortec

1 Mins read

Racing Steps Foundation-backed karter Josh Smith will step up to the new MSA Formula series with Fortec Motorsport this season.

The 15 year old will make the move into car-racing for the first time as the reigning IAME X30 international kart champion, having raced with RSF backing in karts for the past two years.

“It’s a really exciting challenge for me,” said Smith. “I’ll be racing with a top team and will hopefully be able to show what I’m really capable of.

“Last year in karting was a pretty frustrating one which thankfully I managed to end on a high with the IAME X30 title. The aim now is to put that difficult year behind me and focus on doing the best job I can for me and the RSF.”

Smith is the first driver confirmed at Fortec for the 2015 MSA Formula campaign, and the first RSF-backed driver to enter the series.

“It will be a tough championship for Josh to cut his teeth on with so many established Formula Ford drivers and top karters lined up for seats on the grid,” added RSF founder Graham Sharp.

“With Fortec, who have a superb reputation for bringing on youngsters in junior formulae, the hope is that Josh will be able to hit the ground running.”
