Albatec Racing confirms Grosset-Janin for 2015 EuroRX Assault

2 Mins read

Albatec Racing has confirmed the next step of its 2015 Rallycross plans by announcing it has signed EuroRX star Jerome Grosset-Janin to pilot one of the teams Peugeot 208 WRX Supercars in the full 2015 FIA European Rallycross Championship. He will also take part in the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship at Loheac in France.

Grosset-Janin has proven to be a rapid talent in Rallycross, winning the French Rallycross Supercar Title in 2013 and then piloting a Chanoine Competition Renault Clio Mk3 Supercar in the 2014 EuroRX series where he finished the season in seventh place in the drivers standings. The Frenchman enjoyed an exciting first season of EuroRX in 2014, where he was sixth overall at Lydden Hill after the four heat stages.

The Frenchman tested the Albatec Peugeot Supercar on Tuesday in France, allowing him an oppurtunity to acclimatise to the car used by Team Principle Andy Scott in last years WorldRX series. This test is part of a programme that will see further testing and development taking place for Grosset-Janin before the start of the 2015 FIA European Rallycross Championship at Mettet in Belgium.

Albatec Racing Team Principle Andy Scott is looking forward to an exciting partnership with the young Frenchman.

“I’m delighted to welcome Jerome to the team,” said Scott. “Over the past two seasons he’s proved to be an extremely quick and capable driver, even without the benefit of a new generation Supercar. I believe Albatec will give him the platform to secure race wins and hopefully challenge for the European title. Although it was only his first test in the car yesterday, it all went very well, he settled in quickly and I’m sure he’ll be up at the front from the start.”

Grosset-Janin is excited to have signed with Albatec Racing ahead of his second EuroRX Campaign.

“I am very happy to have been hired by Andy Scott to drive the Albatec Racing Peugeot 208 Supercar,” revealed Grosset-Janin. “I had the opportunity to drive the car for the first time today, and it was a day to discover the car and my new environment.

“I have a very good feeling driving it, the car has a good balance and everything went well! I’m really pleased that MTechnologies is also involved in this new adventure.

“I am sure that with Albatec Racing, MTechnologies and myself, we have everything in place to have a strong season! I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel for the next test.”

Albatec is currently talking to several other top line drivers interested in joining the team in the second Peugeot 208 Supercar.

The 2015 FIA European Rallycross Championship kicks off at the Mettet circuit in Belgium on May 15-17.
