AmDTuning.com has announced a single car entry into the 2015 Avon Tyres British GT Championship after buying Team Parker Racing’s Porsche 997 GT4.
With the team looking at expanding into the championship for some time, the stars aligned this year for the team to be granted an entry into what should be a very competitive GT4 category.
To coincide with the team joining British GT, team boss Shaun Hollamby has also revealed that he will race the car full time – his first full season drive since 2010 in the British Touring Car Championship. Joining Hollamby will be experienced racer Graham Coomes.
“We’ve been approached by a number of people in recent seasons about racing in the British GT Championship and for different reasons, the deal has never come off,” Hollamby said. “However, the opportunity to join the grid this year – and to return to action myself – was too good to miss, and we’re delighted to have secured our entry for 2015.
“The GT4 class goes from strength-to-strength and it promises to be an exciting season for us on track. Graham and I have tested the car in recent weeks and were happy with our performance considering the conditions and the fact we were running on old tyres.”
Indeed the Porsche is somewhat of a known quantity in the championship, with Team Parker scoring a number of good results in 2014. Hollamby is confident that they can emulate that in 2015.
He said: “The Porsche is a good package, as anyone who watched the series last season will know, and as a driver pairing, I feel that Graham and I will be able to get some strong results during the year ahead.
“Oulton Park is a great place for us to get our GT campaign underway, and we can’t wait for the serious business to start during the Easter weekend.”
With two clashes between British GT and BTCC, Hollamby can continue to focus on both programmes with Rob Tickner looking after the BTCC team when the boss is racing.
