Swedish Rallycross Racer Ramona Karlsson has revealed that she will drive a Volkswagen Scirocco Supercar in her bid to compete in the 2015 FIA European Rallycross Championship.
Karlsson launched a Crowdfunding campaign earlier this week to complete the budget she needs to run her own Supercar team in both EuroRX this year and the FIA World Rallycross Championship being held at Holjes in Sweden. So far this has been popular with the fans, who can donate to the cause and be a part of the fan club “Team 47” at various levels of funding. This has led to Karlsson being able to confirm her Supercar Challenger for Team Ramona RX.
Ramona revealed she is very happy with her choice of car, saying: “It feels really great. I tested the car in Holjes last autumn, and it didn’t take long until I decided that I really wanted this car.”
Since then, Ramona has been working hard with sponsors to be able to buy the car and get it home to the workshop.
“It feels fantastic that this important part of my team is sorted. Now I will continue the budget work for the running costs, and it’s moving forwards!”
Karlsson has bought the Scirocco from Kristoffersson Motorsport. Right now the Scirocco is at Ingvar Gunnarsson, IGMAB, for updates and preparations. Karlsson is eager to get behind the wheel of the VW as soon as possible.
“It’s without a doubt a really good and competitive car. I can’t wait until the first test!”
Should she be successful in her bid to compete in this seasons EuroRX series, Ramona Karlsson will be in charge of the first ever Female Supercar team in Rallycross. The 2015 FIA European Rallycross Championship begins at Mettet in Belgium on 15-17 May.
