Road Champion Spires Chasing 2015 Clio Series Drive

1 Mins read

Reigning Michelin Clio Cup Road Series champion Anton Spires is hoping to graduate into the headline Race class in 2015.

Spires dominated the Road category last year with Westbourne Motorsport, with seven wins in ten races securing him the title with a weekend to spare.

The 22 year old tested a third-generation Clio racer, as utilised in the Clio Series, with Westbourne at the end of the year, as well as a test fourth-generation Clio with Team Pyro as a prize for winning the Road title.

Spires is hoping to move up the next step of the Clio ladder, but admits time is running out ahead of the opening rounds at Rockingham on April 11/12.

“I’m working very hard to get a Race Series drive but if we have to turn our attention to 2016 then that’s what we’ll have to do,” said Spires.

“I tested with Westbourne [Motorsport] at the end of last year at Brands and it went very well. We’ll keep working hard and maybe there will be some opportunities later in the season.”
