6 Hours of Silverstone Pre-Race Driver Quotes

2 Mins read

Mark Webber, #17 Porsche 919 Hybrid – Pole position in LMP1

“It’s our ninth race as a team so we’re still a pretty young team with some pretty big boxes ticked in terms of performance so we’re going to be under a lot of pressure from our opposition, especially towards the back end of the race. We’re learning a lot and we have high expectations to live up to.”

Darren Turner, #97 Aston Martin Racing Vantage – Starts third in GTE Pro

“With any championship you need to get points on the board straight away. As a team we’re all about the manufacturer’s championship this year and we want to score well. We’ve got three strong cars in Pro and three strong cars in Am so we’ve got a good chance this year. Stefan [Mücke] and I have come close before in the championship so that’s high on our agenda this year as well, so if we could get a podium in this first race that would be a fantastic start.”

Luís Felipe Derani, #28 G-Drive Racing Ligier JS P2 – Pole position in LMP2

“I’m feeling pretty relaxed. It’s my WEC debut but at the end of the day it’s just another race for me. It’s going to be tricky taking care of the tyres. But it’s difficult to say because the conditions were so difficult in FP3. I’m confident that we have a good car and hopefully we can have a good fight with the other teams.”

Nicki Thiim, #95 Aston Martin Racing Vantage – Pole position in GTE Pro

“It’s really good to be on pole. It’s great to be competitive against the best in the business. We’ve got a good strategy but our rivals do as well: the Porsche car looks really strong The weather changes all the time at Silverstone so I think today the wind will come into play as well. We are prepared and we’re at the home track of Aston Martin so I’m looking forward to it.”

Scott Sharp, #30 Extreme Speed Motorsports HPD ARX-03b – Starts fifth in LMP2

“We’re really happy to be here. Silverstone is an incredible track, new to many of us. We’re here with the old cars so we don’t quite have the pace of the newer ones we’re up against but fortunately the Ligiers are running really well and we’ll get our new Ligiers at the next race [6 Hours of Spa Francorchamps] so really we’re just trying to get as many points as we can today. The Dunlops have been really strong for us and we’re really pleased to be using them.”

The FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Silverstone gets underway at 12:00 GMT. The Checkered Flag will be providing live text coverage of the race from Silverstone Circuit.
