Barrable Sets Fastest Time on Circuit of Ireland Rally Qualifying Stage

1 Mins read

Irish driver Robert Barrable will have first choice on road position for tomorrows opening stages of The Circuit of Ireland Rally after setting the fastest time on the 3.2km qualifying stage in his Ford Fiesta R5.

Barrable was half a second quicker than current FIA European Rally Championship leader Kajetan Kajetanowicz with Peugeot Academy’s Charles Martin impressing with third fastest beating teammate Craig Breen by 0.4 seconds in the 208 T16 R5

Frenchman Robert Consani had a small problem with his new Citroen Ds3 R5 but still managed to set 5th fastest time 1.7 seconds down on Barrable. “I’m losing power, I know what the problem is and the mechanics [will] fix it after”, said the Frenchman at the end of the stage.

Alexey Lukyanuk only managed 12th fastest time 4.4 seconds off Barrable.  The Belorussian driver admitted that his lack practice for the event is why he is struggling.

The starting order selection will take place at Belfast City hall at 18:00 followed by the ceremonial start at 19:00
