Four Out of Four Stage Win For Volkswagen On Day Three

1 Mins read

Will a rally victory unlikely for Volkswagen Motorsport the team spent day three of the XION Rally Argentina, round four of the FIA World Rally Championship, productively winning setting fastest time on all four of today’s stages.

Drivers Sebastien Ogier and Andreas Mikkelsen took the stages wins between them as they recovered from their dramas earlier in the event.

The third Volkswagen driver Jari Matti Latvala is still in the battle for the win. The Finn defended his third place from a hard charging Dani Sordo and goes into the final day over a minute off the leader Kris Meeke.

“The conditions today were once again extremely difficult from the outset, and we had a bit of luck on our side when we slipped up on the eighth special stage,” said Latvala.  “After that I could not really find my rhythm and dropped a bit of time. The afternoon was then very good, and I made up time again.

“Tomorrow we take on ‘El Cóndor’ twice. I know this stage very well, so perhaps I can still put the two leaders under some pressure.”

Crews will tackle two final stages on leg 4 of Rally Argentina.
