2015 FIA European Rally Championship leader Kajetan Kajetanowicz enters new territory as he prepares to tackle round two of the series, the Circuit of Ireland Rally. The Polish driver and the LOTOS Rally Team come to Northern Ireland leading the championship by five points.
The four times Polish rally champion won the opening round in Austria and secured the ERC Ice Master Trophy on the second round in Latvia but Kajetanowicz has less experience on asphalt and knows this weekend will be a big challenge.
“Six months have passed since Tour de Corse, the previous tarmac round of the European Championship, so I miss driving on asphalt. I know that we have to stay extremely focused and prepare ourselves well before we fight on very complicated stages around Belfast,” said the Pole.
“This rally is also a huge challenge for our Ford Fiesta R5. On long straights the power of the cars is extremely important and a bumpy surface is a big test for suspension. We will do our best to extract everything from our car and use our strengths to build up confidence on stages which are completely new to us.
The Circuit of Ireland will be contested over two day and kicks off with the ceremonial start outside Belfast City Hall on April 2.
