Unstoppable Ogier Looking For First Win In Argentina

1 Mins read

Frenchman Sebastien Ogier could not have hoped for a better start to the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship.

After the first quarter of the series the Volkswagen Motorsport driver is on top form and leads the championship by 34 points from team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen after winning the opening three rounds.

The next round will see crews tackle Rally Argentina and it is an event that Ogier has yet to win.

The World Champion has managed three podium finishes in the last four years and will be keen to takes the top sport as he bids to continue his formidable start to 2015.

“I have never won the Rally Argentina, and would obviously like to stand on the very top step of the podium there for the first time.” said Ogier “Compared to Mexico, the surface at the Rally Argentina is not as aggressive on the tyres and the temperatures are far lower.

“We would usually all use the softer compounds. We are unlikely to see any tactical games like we did in Mexico, when we opted for a crossover of hard and soft tyres.”

Team-mate Mikkelsen comes into the event having taken a hat trick of podiums so far this year, narrowly missing out on victory in Sweden. The Norwegian is keen to continue his good form.

“The Rally Argentina is one of my favourites.” said Mikkelsen, “I have always had good results and shown good pace there. I expect us to finish on the podium this year – as we have done at the recent rallies. That is definitely my goal.

Rally Argentina commences on April 23.
